About
100,000 people gathered at Cairo Stadium on Thursday from 10 AM to 3 PM
to chant anti-war slogans, and rally in support of the Iraqi and
Palestinian people.
The government approved rally was
meant to show the Egyptian people's anger at US insistence on a war with
Iraq.

The general mood in the Arab
world is one of frustration -- and that sentiment was obvious here. The
rally comes just as Arab leaders are set to meet in Sharm El-Sheikh for
an Arab summit meant to show official Arab displeasure with the US
stance. (Click here for the latest headlines on the summit in English
and Arabic).

The rally was covered fairly well
by the foreign press, including this piece that ran on the BBC.

The National Democratic Party,
meanwhile, is also planning an anti-war rally, -- one they hope will be
attended by some 500,000 people -- for mid March.

took place in London earlier this month, click here.
