PYRAMID IN TYSONS?

Game show mania
Childhood star singing
phenomenon Donny Osmond's reincarnation as game show host of ABC's
Pyramid -- where contestants vie for $125,000 in prize money -- is going
strong. Tryouts for the show took place at Tysons Corner Mall in the
Virginia suburbs of Washington DC on Saturday. The Pyramids were
providing not only the title and thematic structure of the game, but the
backdrop and lights set up behind Donny, who entertained fans for a
while on the mall's Fashion Court stage.
Actually, the Pyramids have been getting a lot of play in global pop
culture recently -- just last month National Geographic did a
live archaeology event purporting to discover a hidden chamber in the
world's last wonder.

Symbolic
candy
Starburst jelly beans have burst onto
the scene in Egypt, with a pyramid shaped mini pack that costs 25
piasters. M & Ms had previously introduced a similar symbolically
shaped
container for their tiny chocolates last year. Jelly beans are a brand
new item for the candy market in Egypt, and only time will tell
whether they prove as popular as "jelly cola" and other
sweets. To help matters out, there is a "halal" sticker on
the label for reassurance.

Party time!
Pop star Mohamed Fouad
("Al-Hobb Al-Haqiqi") makes a surprise appearance at a beach
party at the Mena resort on the North Coast on Friday night. Alexandria and the North Coast were packed this weekend as vacationers
tried to catch the last gasp of fun in the sun before schools
begin.

Anyone for
foooool?
A new chain of fast food fuul and taamiya shops has opened
up branches in Giza and Heliopolis. "Hassan and Naima, the Fast
Foool Company" is the catchy name of this restaurant that aims to
be the McDonald's of shaabi food.
